Joanna Kahn: Physical Therapy, Yoga

Joanna emphasizes a personalized approach with hands on manual treatments, postural / movement investigation, strategic strengthening and patient empowerment (via educating you about your body specifically).  Joanna is passionate about women's health, especially since she became pregnant and saw the great impact her knowledge had on creating a comfortable, movement rich and pain free pregnancy.  Joanna was astounded by the inaccurate recommendations of pre/postnatal physical activity available to the public, a lack of follow through on postnatal care and support, in addition to guidelines mostly relating to what one CAN'T do during pregnancy.  From this, she dreamt up MAHPP and focuses on what you CAN do during pregnancy and recovery.  Joanna has also combined her love of yoga, orthopedics and women's health as a pre/postnatal yoga instructor.

Align Spa: Massage

The Align Spa, operating since 2003, is not only the oldest spa in town, but we have been voted the best spa & best massage by the locals. We believe self-care is imperative in today's modern busy world and we've seen strong evidence that when we nurture ourselves and slow down, more than just our body benefits, our entire life benefits. The Align Spa team are professional, fun and talented, and many have been working together for a decade or longer. The majority of the staff perform prenatal massage on a regular basis. Our mission is you will feel a connection at every stage of your Align experience from the moment you book your appointment, to your departure. Your experience matters to us. For the special time in a woman’s life when her body is supporting two and really needs extra pampering. She may lie either face down in a body-support cushion safe for pregnancy or on her side supported by a body cushion, whichever feels more comfortable. This gentle, soothing massage will help relieve tension in her lower back and neck, stimulate circulation throughout the body to help combat water retention and alleviate stress.

Kyra Wong: Postural Specialist

Kyra Wong is a self-described body dork. After completing a degree in Health Science at University California Santa Barbara (UCSB) Kyra worked with athletes doing massage therapy and personal training. After years as a competitive snowboarder, and former gymnast, her own back pain and hip pain became unbearable and lead her to Egoscue®, a posture therapy method in San Diego, CA. After experiencing unmatched results, she spent the next two years studying and working with clients under Pete Egoscue, at Egoscue® Headquarters.

Fifteen years later, she finds herself still using Pete Egoscue’s work as the foundation for helping people live a Pain Free life.  In her quest for knowledge, she has added certifications in Yoga; and, she has been influenced by many other body-based teachers. Most recently, Kyra has become the proud mother of two young boys. Naturally, her own pregnancies and births became her next area of attention. She used postural exercises daily throughout both pregnancies to stay fit and comfortable. Now, she is excited to offer new and expecting mothers corrective exercise techniques. This creates the best possible internal carriage position for the mother, the baby and birth, and offers support for postpartum recovery.
